If your visa has expired and you are still in the UAE, a fine is added for every day. Here is what it costs, how to check it and how to stop it happening again.
Checked October 2026
UAE authorities charge a standard AED 50 for each day you stay after your visa expires (or after the grace period, if your visa has one). It is the same amount for residence, work and visit visas. A few weeks of delay quickly becomes a large amount — 30 days is AED 1,500.
Some visas have a short grace period after they expire or are cancelled. The length depends on your visa type, so check your exact status on ICP or GDRFA instead of counting on it.
Fines can be paid online on the same ICP or GDRFA services, or at Amer and typing centres. You must clear them before you can get a new visa or leave the country.
