Every Dubai tenancy contract must be registered in Ejari. Without it you cannot connect DEWA or use the contract for a visa. Here is how to do it in minutes.
Checked October 2026
Ejari is the Dubai Land Department (DLD) system that registers tenancy contracts. A registered contract is your proof of where you live — DEWA uses it to connect electricity and water, and it is needed for visa and family-sponsorship files and if there is ever a rent dispute.
According to Dubai agents’ 2026 guides, registration is AED 100 plus AED 10 knowledge and AED 10 innovation fees, plus a service fee — about AED 178 in total online on Dubai REST and about AED 220 at a real-estate trustee centre. The app shows the exact amount before you pay.
Every renewed contract needs a new Ejari. Do it as soon as the renewal is signed, so your visa or DEWA account is never tied to an expired one.
Add the document once. LifeDesk reminds you on your phone, for you and your whole family.

Yes. Tenants need a valid Ejari number before DEWA can activate electricity and water.
