What you must have

Every car on UAE roads must have at least third-party liability insurance, which pays for damage you cause to others. Comprehensive cover also pays for your own car (accidents, theft, floods) and is often required by car-loan banks.

What happens without it

Renewing

  1. Compare prices 2–3 weeks before the end date; your current insurer’s renewal offer is not always the best.
  2. Check the agency-repair and personal-accident options if your car is new.
  3. Renew the insurance before the registration — see car registration renewal.
